My father and a colleague of his founded this company many years ago and it was handed over to me after his death. It started as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and I intend to maintain that status.

The Community Standard, Inc.

The Community Standard, Inc., is a non-profit organization illuminating practical steps toward improving the quality of life. Our areas of focus include:

creating and maintaining surroundings of a pleasing human scale;
protecting and enhancing the natural environment;
maximizing neighborhood safety and health;
increasing the appreciation and understanding of historical architecture;
enhancing public and private landscaping;
obtaining recognition for historical properties;
fostering governmental processes which are supportive of family and community life;
energizing restoration and revitalization of decaying neighborhoods; and
encouraging communication among vital communities.

The corporation was chartered in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2005, and is a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Part of what I believe will help our families, communities and nation is an understanding of what makes American democracy – from the roots up – the best that government can offer. The idea… the experiment of people governing themselves – depends on a well informed citizenry, so in case that concept is not clear I have added a tutorial on how government is constructed, hopefully outlined in such a way that is easily conveyed, just as it was taught to us in Civics classes when I was growing up.
